The collection consists of copies of letters from both Ida and Alice when they attended Oswego Normal School from 1869 to 1873. It also includes letters received from other family members, a majority of them from the Graddock family.

Alice and Ida Williams were students who attended the Oswego Normal School between 1869 and 1873. Ida eventually went on to teach school in Oswego, while her sister Alice relocated to Michigan to attend a state university.
